GracePointe Assisted Living & Memory Care Suites Garden Square Assisted Living of Crete |

Tabitha Health Care Services is proud to celebrate the first anniversary of four of its senior living communities: GracePointe Assisted Living & Memory Care Suites; Martha House and Elizabeth House Green House® homes; and Journey House SNF for Hospice and Palliative Care.
Joyce Ebmeier, Tabitha’s senior vice president of strategic planning, led the development initiatives of each new community along with a dedicated team of architects, general contractors and Tabitha professionals,.
“Last year was significant in Tabitha’s history,” Ebmeier said. “As a result, our campus looks more beautiful than ever. But that’s not why we worked so hard to open these communities. From beginning to end, the projects were about serving the people of Tabitha—Elders, family members and staff. The buildings are vessels for living by Tabitha’s mission. They are tools for achieving the best in compassionate care.”
Tabitha extends heartfelt appreciation for the team members who contributed to the opening of each community and the care teams who provide daily, compassionate support for residents who have called Tabitha home for the past year.
GracePointe Assisted Living & Memory Care Suites is a 63-bed community designed for Elders who are not yet in need of skilled nursing care yet require assistance with the activities of daily living. In 2012, the community received a "Best of 50+ Housing" award from the National Association of Home Builders’ 50+ Housing Council for its innovative, retro-style design that invites Elders to relive precious memories of their early years.
Tabitha added the third and fourth Green House homes, Martha House and Elizabeth House, on its Lincoln campus in 2011. Green House homes step outside traditional long-term care and work to de-institutionalize residents’ lifestyles. Each house is home to 9-12 residents who are encouraged to live life on their own terms while receiving compassionate skilled nursing care. Green Houses promote the individuality and dignity of Elders no longer able to stay in their own homes.
Also opened last May, Journey House SNF for Hospice and Palliative Care is Lincoln’s first and only Medicare-certified skilled nursing hospice community. It provides loving and compassionate care in a home-like setting for individuals in need of skilled nursing during their end-of-life journey.
As a nonprofit organization serving 28 Nebraska counties, Tabitha’s love embraces a society where everyone is valued and empowered to live life to the fullest, with compassionate at-home support, innovative living communities, exceptional rehabilitation, health care and hospice services.
The National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) 50+ Housing Council recognized GracePointe Assisted Living at its 2012 Best of 50+ Housing Awards on Feb. 10, 2012.
Senior living projects from across the country vied for the awards that recognized excellence and innovation in design, development and marketing of housing for Elder consumers. GracePointe was honored with both the 50+ Gold Award and the Innovation Award for Best Assisted Living Project.
“To be recognized by the NAHB was quite an honor,” said Brian Curtis, GracePointe Administrator. “The residents who call GracePointe home know how nostalgic and unique our households are. Now, others have a chance to see how simple design elements can engage Elders who have Alzheimer’s or experience other forms of dementia.”
The interiors of GracePointe were designed to embrace the 1940s and ‘50s era. Curtis said those details invite Elders to relive their earlier years when their lives were filled with many precious memories. It invites them to celebrate life while remembering the past, he said.
GracePointe Assisted Living opened in May 2011. The development of its design, construction and operations included a team made up of leaders from Tabitha, Ecumen Senior Housing Development, Pope Associates, Inc. and Adolph and Peterson General Contractors. Joyce Ebmeier, Tabitha’s Vice President of Strategic Planning played an integral role in the community’s opening.
“This award is the result of great work and tremendous dedication,” said Ebmeier. “It’s exciting to share this innovative project with the Lincoln community and even more exciting to see how the design of GracePointe positively influences the health and well being of residents and staff.”
GracePointe Assisted Living is a 63-bed community designed for Elders who are not yet in need of skilled nursing care yet require assistance with the activities of daily living. The community’s third and final neighborhood opened this past December.
Curtis said this NAHB recognition is only the beginning in the impact of GracePointe for community Elders. “We continuously look for other creative opportunities to engage our Elders through cutting edge senior living,” he said.

Do you have a compassionate spirit and a desire to give back? Tabitha Elder Care Services is now recruiting volunteers for our team and just a few hours on a daily, weekly or monthly basis can make a difference to an Elder in need. Volunteer opportunities are numerous, fitting every interest and schedule. A few of the areas that have the greatest need for volunteers include:
Meals on Wheels Delivery – Spend two hours over the noon hour delivering warm, nutritious meals to Elders in need. Routes are available 7-days a week. Pick up a route once a week, once a month, or whatever fits your schedule.
Life Enrichment Activities – Have an interest or hobby that you would like to share? Become a Life Enrichment volunteer and participate in existing activities with our Elder residents like bingo, music and holiday events. Or, bring your talents and ideas for sharing a new activity like bible studies or card clubs. This is a great opportunity for groups and individuals.
Administrative Office – Numerous volunteer opportunities are found in Tabitha’s administration office, from helping with mailings, greeting visitors, putting together materials in our print shop to cashiering at our gift shop.
Hospice – Volunteers are a key part of our Hospice team. They provide companionship, a listening ear, comforting activities, and an opportunity to record their stories to Elders as they face life’s beautiful final journey.
Becoming a Tabitha volunteer is easy, simply fill out the volunteer application from the link below and send it to volunteers@tabitha.org, fax to (402) 486-8590 or drop it off at Tabitha’s main campus, 4720 Randolph St. If you have further questions, feel free to call our volunteer leaders at (402) 486-8563.
Tabitha Elder Care Services is proud to announce the opening of a new community at GracePointe Assisted Living & Memory Care Suites. The new, third-floor neighborhood provides an additional 24 apartments for individuals in need of assistance with activities of daily living, such as medication management, dressing, bathing and social interaction.
“With the opening of our third floor, we now have turnkey apartments that can meet the needs of those looking for a little extra help. We’re very excited,” said Brian Curtis, GracePointe administrator.
GracePointe Assisted Living & Memory Care Suites is a 63-bed facility designed for Elders who are not yet in need of skilled nursing care, yet require assistance with the activities of daily living. The facility features maintenance-free residences that provide around-the-clock personal care as well as activities focused on health, wellness and memory support.
Tabitha Health Care Services recently welcomed Brian Curtis as administrator of its newest living community, GracePointe Assisted Living & Memory Care Suites. In his role Curtis oversees strategic leadership, daily operations, and budget development and implementation of the 63-bed facility that opened in May.
Prior to joining Tabitha, Curtis built an extensive resume in Elder Care leadership, including executive director positions at several Lincoln- and Omaha-area living communities. With expertise in strategic planning, staff development, quality improvement, facilities management and fundraising he brings an outstanding skill set and an extensive collection of fresh, creative ideas to one of Tabitha’s most vibrant Elder communities.
“I’ve had a strong working relationship with Tabitha for years and have always heard nothing but positive comments about Tabitha’s ability to support the changing needs of Elders, especially since the exciting, new growth of the Lincoln campus,” Curtis said. “I feel blessed to be part of an organization dedicated to helping Elders live life to the fullest and am looking forward to welcoming new residents to GracePointe. Our Elders do not live in a place we go to work; rather, we are privileged to work in the place our Elders call home.”
At GracePointe, Curtis directs the care of those not yet in need of skilled nursing, yet who require regular assistance in daily living. GracePointe features maintenance-free, private residences that provide around-the-clock personal care as well as activities focused on health, wellness and a variety of leisure pursuits. He manages a staff fully trained in the needs of assisted living and memory care residents, and as a Tabitha Living Community, GracePointe offers full access to Tabitha’s complete continuum of Elder Care.
“Brian brings a tremendous amount of expertise as an assisted living administrator and in the provision of memory support services,” said Jeremy Hohlen, Executive Director of Operations, Living Communities. “His Christian compassion, high level of talent, experience and dedication is a wonderful asset to GracePointe and the Elders we serve.”
