The National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) 50+ Housing Council recognized GracePointe Assisted Living at its 2012 Best of 50+ Housing Awards on Feb. 10, 2012.
Senior living projects from across the country vied for the awards that recognized excellence and innovation in design, development and marketing of housing for Elder consumers. GracePointe was honored with both the 50+ Gold Award and the Innovation Award for Best Assisted Living Project.
“To be recognized by the NAHB was quite an honor,” said Brian Curtis, GracePointe Administrator. “The residents who call GracePointe home know how nostalgic and unique our households are. Now, others have a chance to see how simple design elements can engage Elders who have Alzheimer’s or experience other forms of dementia.”
The interiors of GracePointe were designed to embrace the 1940s and ‘50s era. Curtis said those details invite Elders to relive their earlier years when their lives were filled with many precious memories. It invites them to celebrate life while remembering the past, he said.
GracePointe Assisted Living opened in May 2011. The development of its design, construction and operations included a team made up of leaders from Tabitha, Ecumen Senior Housing Development, Pope Associates, Inc. and Adolph and Peterson General Contractors. Joyce Ebmeier, Tabitha’s Vice President of Strategic Planning played an integral role in the community’s opening.
“This award is the result of great work and tremendous dedication,” said Ebmeier. “It’s exciting to share this innovative project with the Lincoln community and even more exciting to see how the design of GracePointe positively influences the health and well being of residents and staff.”
GracePointe Assisted Living is a 63-bed community designed for Elders who are not yet in need of skilled nursing care yet require assistance with the activities of daily living. The community’s third and final neighborhood opened this past December.
Curtis said this NAHB recognition is only the beginning in the impact of GracePointe for community Elders. “We continuously look for other creative opportunities to engage our Elders through cutting edge senior living,” he said.
