Tabitha Hospice team goes above and beyond to ensure clients’ special end-of-life wishes are fulfilled.

Each November, the National Association for Home Care and Hospice (NAHC) spotlights these two very important services. Tabitha has a group of dedicated and talented team members who deliver this care in 28 counties across Nebraska. These professionals play a key role in the health and well-being of our neighbors across the state, providing support wherever they call home.

This year, Tabitha marks 40 years of compassionate end-of-life care. Tabitha is considered a pioneer as they were the first program to offer hospice in Nebraska and to become Medicare-certified. Hospice provides expert guidance to those with a terminal diagnosis focusing on symptom control, pain management, personal care assistance and provide grief and bereavement support to their families through this emotional time. Tabitha Hospice also offers the Journey House, a residence located at their Lincoln main campus, dedicated to serving hospice clients. In addition, Tabitha has recently expanded its hospice services to Buffalo County.

With 10,000 baby boomers retiring daily through the year 2030, home health care has never been more important as older Americans wish to remain independent at home as long as possible. Tabitha Home Health Care plays an integral role in the lives of seniors, especially in remote and/or underserved rural areas of Nebraska. The program provides customized support including physical, occupational and speech therapies, medication management, personal care assistance and other medical services based on individual needs. Tabitha Home Health Care launched in 1966 and this year celebrates a milestone of serving in the Saline County area for 45 years.

“We are so thankful for the continued support and partnerships in the communities we’ve been invited to serve,” shared Tabitha Home Health Care Administrator Marci Whipple. “Seniors depend on us and we are honored to provide exceptional care to them in the comfort and convenience of their homes.”

Tabitha Hospice Administrator Chris Wismer added, “Tabitha team members truly make the difference each and every day. They are the definition of caring and compassion and we are grateful to have such a strong supportive network.”
