Tabitha Grief Groups and Hospice Volunteer Training - June 2019

MAIN REGION (LINCOLN, NE AND LANCASTER COUNTY)

Grief and support groups are open to anyone in the community experiencing loss or needing support. For questions and confirmation of dates, please contact Pastor Ray Boeche, Tabitha Hospice bereavement coordinator, at 402.486.8546.

  • “Loss of a Loved One Drop-in Grief Group,” held every Monday, 10-11:30 a.m., at the Front Porch Coffee Shop, 5925 Adams St.

  • “Loss of a Loved One Drop-in Grief Group,” held every Wednesday, 1:30-3 p.m., at The Harbor Coffeehouse, 1265 S. Cotner Blvd.

  • “Men’s Drop-in Grief Group,” held every other Friday, June 7 and 21, 1:30-3 p.m., at Hy-Vee deli, 7151 Stacy Ln.

  • Growing through Grief” six-week support group, Wednesdays, Jun. 19 – Jul. 24, 10-11:30 a.m., at Tabitha, 4720 Randolph St. For questions, please contact Pastor Ray Boeche, Tabitha Hospice bereavement coordinator, at 402.486.8546.

Tabitha has teamed up with Alzheimer’s Association to host a new caregiving and dementia drop-in support group. In these free sessions, trained facilitators lead the discussion, providing a safe place for caregivers, family and friends of those with dementia to exchange caregiving challenges and concerns, identify solutions and coping mechanisms and learn about community resources. The group will be held the first Monday of each month, 7-8 p.m., at Tabitha LifeQuest Conference Room, 4720 Randolph St. For questions, please contact Jordan Schoenefeld, Tabitha memory care engagement coordinator, at 402.484.9418.

Join Tabitha and University of Nebraska—Lincoln for a special Avoiding the Brain Strain Memory Workshop built to equip you with the educational resources and tools to help keep your brain stronger, longer. This eight-week group will be held Wednesdays, June 12 - July 31, 10 - 11:30 a.m. at 203A Barkley Memorial Center, East Campus University of Nebraska—Lincoln, 4075 East Campus Loop South. The workshop focuses on learning about and developing strategies to improve independence and safety with daily functional skills and activities. Significant others, friends or family members are encouraged to attend with participants to learn how to assist with the daily challenges of memory impairment and engage in group discussions. Cost to attend is $80 (for participant and guest).
