Tabitha Grief Groups and Hospice Volunteer Training - July 2019

MAIN REGION (LINCOLN, NE AND LANCASTER COUNTY)

Grief and support groups are open to anyone in the community experiencing loss or needing support. For questions and confirmation of dates, please contact Pastor Ray Boeche, Tabitha Hospice bereavement coordinator, at 402.486.8546.

  • “Loss of a Loved One Drop-in Grief Group,” held every Monday, 10-11:30 a.m., at the Front Porch Coffee Shop, 5925 Adams St.
  • “Loss of a Loved One Drop-in Grief Group,” held every Wednesday, 1:30-3 p.m., at The Harbor Coffeehouse, 1265 S. Cotner Blvd.
  • “Men’s Drop-in Grief Group,” held every other Friday, July 5 and 19, 1:30-3 p.m., at Hy-Vee deli, 7151 Stacy Ln.

Tabitha has teamed up with Alzheimer’s Association to host a new caregiving and dementia drop-in support group. In these free sessions, trained facilitators lead the discussion, providing a safe place for caregivers, family and friends of those with dementia to exchange caregiving challenges and concerns, identify solutions and coping mechanisms and learn about community resources. The group will be held the first Monday of each month, 7-8 p.m., at Tabitha LifeQuest Conference Room, 4720 Randolph St. For questions, please contact Jordan Schoenefeld, Tabitha memory care engagement coordinator, at 402.484.9418.

Tabitha also offers individual hospice volunteer training throughout Lancaster County. Hospice volunteering is a rewarding opportunity that provides companionship, pet therapy, bereavement support, respite care, light housekeeping, office and clerical support while providing comfort and joy to Tabitha clients. EAST REGION (NEBRASKA CITY, NE AREA)

Grief and support groups are open to anyone in the community experiencing loss or needing support and helpful caregiver tips.

The “Loss of a Loved One Drop-in Grief Group” will be held the second Tuesday of each month, July 9, 2-3 p.m., at Good Samaritan Society - Longs Creek Village Assisted Living, 418 Q St., Auburn. Sessions offer a relaxed, drop-in atmosphere and provide the opportunity to process loss while meeting others with similar experiences. CENTRAL REGION (YORK, NE AREA)

Grief support groups are open to anyone in the community experiencing loss or needing support.

  • “Seward Grief Support Group,” July 9, 5 p.m., at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 1014 N. 6th St.
  • “York Grief Support Group,” July 25, 2 p.m., at Tabitha, 205 S. Lincoln Ave., Ste. 101.

A unique six-week support group will be offered through Tabitha’s new “HOPE Book Club.” During these sessions, members will review and discuss the book, “Option B;” a powerful, inspiring and practical book about building resilience and moving forward after life’s inevitable setbacks. This is a brown bag meeting; attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunch. The group will be held every Wednesday, July 10 – August 14, noon, at Kilgore Memorial Library, 520 Nebraska Ave., York. Tabitha Hospice has teamed up with Four Corners Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors (LOSS) for a special support group intended to provide a safe and private environment for suicide survivors to share and learn from one another as they navigate their unique grief journey. The group will be held the last Tuesday of each month, July 30, 5:30-6:30 p.m., at Four Corners Health Department, 2101 N. Lincoln Ave., York.
