TABITHA MEALS ON WHEELS (LINCOLN)
When you deliver Tabitha Meals on Wheels, you help Seniors and individuals with disabilities remain in their homes by providing a hot, nutritious meal and daily safety check. You can help daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or as an on-call volunteer driver. Routes take about 60-90 minutes and begin around 10:45 a.m. There is no better way to serve our community and neighbors in need. Apply now by clicking here.
TABITHA SKILLED NURSING AND LONG-TERM CARE COMMUNITIES, RESIDENTIAL-STYLE COMMUNITIES (LINCOLN)
Volunteers are needed seven days per week for a wide variety of opportunities within our skilled nursing communities.
- Family support volunteer - assist in maintaining sanitary practices during on-site family visits
- Companion visits with residents
- Assist with resident engagement activities
- Escort residents to family visitation locations, chapel and the beauty shop
- Serve meals in the dining room
- Play cards and board games
- Read with residents
- Host a coffee, book or other special interest club
- Laundry assistance
- Office/clerical duties, including filing and sorting
- Print shop volunteer
- Beauty shop volunteer
GRACEPOINTE ASSISTED LIVING & MEMORY CARE SUITES (LINCOLN)
GracePointe volunteers are needed seven days per week; hours vary by activity.
- Play billiards or games
- Share musical talents
- Organize Resident book library
- Assist with outdoor visits
- Accompany Residents to Chapel
- Help with Resident manicures
- Assist with Resident activities
- Pet therapy
- Bible study leader
TABITHA IN CRETE AND THE GARDENS ASSISTED LIVING (CRETE)
Volunteers are needed seven days per week at Tabitha in Crete and The Gardens; hours vary by activity.
- Visit with residents
- Play cards or board games
- Call Bingo
- Polish nails
- Pass snacks/juice cart
- Lead morning exercises
- Assist with resident activities
- Errand assistance
- Entertainment
- Assist with outdoor visits
HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
High school students can meet required volunteer hours for civics/citizenship issues courses.
INTERNSHIPS/COURSE CREDIT
Tabitha offers a variety of learning opportunities for college students to gain relevant, professional and hands-on experience. Finding the right place to gain experience in your chosen field is critical as you grow your resume and build professional skills. At Tabitha, we offer internships at many levels of the organization. While our needs vary from semester to semester, we make every effort to place interns into positions that meet their interests, skills and abilities. Internships are unpaid learning opportunities in several departments, at our various locations. HOSPICE (ALL REGIONS)
Tabitha Hospice volunteers provide support to clients in the last stages of life and their families. Volunteers may offer:
- Respite care
- Bereavement support
- Companionship
- Pet visits/window pet visits (e.g. dogs, calves, donkey, bunny)
- Window painting
- Light housekeeping
- Errand running
- Moving help
- Office/clerical support
Hospice Volunteers visit clients in Tabitha Living Communities, other care facilities or clients' homes. After your hospice volunteer application is approved, specialized training is provided to prepare you for this unique and rewarding opportunity.
