FAQs
How will I get from the hospital to Tabitha Nursing & Rehabilitation Center?
Tabitha transportation services will bring a wheelchair and other necessary equipment (ex. oxygen) to your hospital room and transport you to Tabitha at no charge. If ambulance transportation is needed, the hospital discharge planner will discuss any potential charges with you.
Is there anything I will be responsible for coordinating?
No. A Tabitha Senior Care Expert will work closely with your discharge planner to ensure the transition from hospital to rehabilitation goes smoothly.
What will Medicare pay, and what do I have to pay out-of-pocket?
Medicare Part A will cover inpatient skilled nursing care according to the Medicare recommendations and guidelines. Your Tabitha Senior Care Expert will explain in detail the relevant Medicare regulations and coverage for your specific situation. Services not covered by Medicare include, but are not limited to, transportation beyond initial pickup from the hospital, transportation aide charges, and beauty/barber shop charges.
How much therapy will I get each day?
You and your Tabitha care team will determine what therapy options best fit your health goals. Many Clients receive 1–2 hours per day of physical and occupational therapy combined, 5–7 days per week depending on diagnosis and condition. Therapy will be performed in one of two state-of-the-art therapy gyms. Speech therapy will be provided if ordered by your physician.
What should I bring with me?
You will need to bring photo identification, your insurance card(s) and power of attorney paperwork (if applicable). Comfortable, loose clothing is recommended. Tabitha provides TV, phone and basic toiletries in each room. We discourage bringing large amounts of cash, credit cards or valuable personal property. For long-term stay clients, a few personal belongings are encouraged. Items may be subject to inspection by Tabitha’s living community services team.
Will I have a roommate?
All Tabitha short-term rehabilitation rooms are private. Some long-term care rooms are designed for comfortable double occupancy.
Will my doctor see me while I am at Tabitha?
Tabitha offers physician services to Clients, led by our medical director. Some local physicians prefer to have our medical team follow their patients during their stay at Tabitha. This arrangement is a courtesy to local physicians and Clients who may find it difficult to travel to their doctors’ offices. If you desire to continue seeing your own physician and are able to travel safely to the office, you may continue under that physician’s care.
How will I know when I am no longer meeting Medicare criteria for skilled nursing care?
Together with your care team, your plan of care and discharge plans are initiated within 24 hours of admission. Your care team meets at least weekly to evaluate your recovery status. A Tabitha social worker will partner with you and your family to coordinate a plan of care compliant with Medicare payment criteria.
What if I need additional services when I am discharged from Tabitha?
Once you have selected Tabitha, you have access to Tabitha’s convenient range of Senior Care services. These services include home health care, assisted living communities, respite care, long-term care and hospice services. Our services meet you wherever you are on your aging journey.
